One of the most mysterious locations in the United States is "The
Racetrack", a dry lake bed in the northern part of Death Valley
National Park. Chunks of rock fall from a cliff far to the
left of the rock in this photograph, then somehow move in varied and
various directions across the lake bed, leaving distinct tracks.
Scientists believe a combination of rain and/or ice, plus wind, are
responsible for the rocks' movements. Look up "Racetrack
Playa" on Wikipedia for a detailed explanation of this phenomenon. |
